After Monday’s 113-105 loss to the LA Clippers, it seems increasingly likely the Lakers will miss the playoffs for a sixth straight season.
It’s not exactly the happy ending to his career that LeBron James was looking for when he signed for the fading West Coast giants.
The wheels fell off when LeBron tore his groin against the Warriors before Christmas and it’s been downhill ever since – even after King James returned to the floor.
But the money is on LeBron staying and coach Luke Walton getting the push if, as expected, the season ends early for the Lakers once again.
After all, LeBron’s three championships and eight consecutive NBA Finals appearances still have to count for something. But all bets may be off if the Clippers and not the Lakers are LA’s top team next season.
